NC Home Inspector E-Newsletter - BULLETIN JULY 9, 2009
THE FOXES WILL NO LONGER BE WATCHING THE CHICKEN HOUSE - THEY WILL OWN IT! SB1007 WILL EFFECTIVELY GIVE CONTROL OF THE NORTH CAROLINA HOME INSPECTOR LICENSURE BOARD TO REALTORS AND HOME BUILDERS!
AS this independent investigative journalist understands the process with SB1007 coming before the Committee on Commerce, Small Business, and Entrepreneurship on July 15, 2009 it will be a done deal and there will be no further question that North Carolina politicians are owned by corporate special interests. As the beat goes on so to does the screwing of good, honest Home Inspectors and home buying consumers of North Carolina!
While there can be no question of the value and importance of mandatory pre-licensing education, the concept and importance of which this journalist and home inspector introduced at a public hearing in 2005, it is not worth the sellout as promoted by Bruce Rudd of NC-ASHI and Fred Herndon of NCLHIA - the gigolos of the home inspection industry!
The fact of the matter is, as this home inspector suggested to David Jones at a meeting three years ago, the Board can address this matter immediately by requiring all new inspectors for their first continuing education or immediately after receiving their license attend 12 hours of a mandatory course, the content of which is be determined by the Board; developed and provided by course sponsors. Of course, because it came form a home inspector and not a professional engineer David Jones dismissed the suggestion. As I understand it, the licensing law allows the Board to do this. The question is, why didn't David Jones? The second question is why didn't Fred Herndon and Bruce Rudd pursue it?
The most important question of all is why did NC-DOI Commissioner Wayne Goodwin kill the pre-licensing bill from his own Board to support the realtors and home builders? There needs to be an investigation - another corrupt politician in North Carolina? If it is true will it be a surprise? My understanding is that the filing of an ethics complaint is in the works. Perhaps the politicians supporting SB1007 may want to table it for a while until resolution of this pending complaint against Commissioner Goodwin is resolved.
TOMORROW July 10, 2009 all of you need to attend the meeting of the NC Home Inspector Licensure Board and demand that the Board take a stronger public position in opposing SB1007, optionally you may telephone or email Board members to express your views. You need to do this immediately so the Board can act on it at tomorrow's meeting.
