North Carolina SOP Compliant Home Inspection Program

.1102 STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

This Section sets forth the minimum standards of practice required of licensed home inspectors and licensed associate home inspectors.  In this Section, the term “home inspectors” means both licensed home inspectors and licensed associate home inspectors.

 .1103 PURPOSE AND SCOPE

(a) Home inspections performed according to this Section shall provide the client with a better understanding of the property conditions, as inspected at the time of the home inspection.

(b) Home inspectors shall:

(1) Provide a written contract, signed by the client, before the home inspection is performed that shall:

(A) State that the home inspection is in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board;

(B) Describe what services shall be provided and their cost; and

(C) State, when an inspection is for only one or a limited number of systems or components, that the inspection is limited to only those systems or components.

(2) Inspect readily visible and readily accessible installed systems and components listed in this Section; and

(3) Submit a written report to the client that shall:

(A) Describe those systems and components required to be described in Rules .1106 through .1115 of this Section;

(B) State which systems and components designated for inspection in this Section have been inspected, and state any systems or components designated for inspection that were not inspected, and the reason for not inspecting;

What does the above mean? You need Guardian, because Guardian's format and functionality meets these requirements. Any time during your report writing process point and click to determine if you are in compliance!

        Guardian Residential Inspection Program (NC) is not a cumbersome MS Word application that requires any cutting and pasting or a template that requires time and effort to setup - but please compare it to whatever else is on the market - we know you will appreciate the ease and functionality of Guardian Residential Inspection Program (NC)

Here is what experienced inspectors says about our Trial Version:

George:

I just finished reviewing your trial version.  I must say, I am very impressed.  I have reviewed other software programs and I can say without doubt your program is far superior.  I really like your approach.  A new inspector should be able to quickly learn the program and stay out of trouble.  But, just as important is the fact that he can customize statements and grow his database.  Similarly, in new construction, there are plenty of estimating programs available and they are a good place to start but a contractor has to build his own specific cost data if he will ever be able to provide accurate and reliable cost estimates. I have been involved in similar development work in the past and can appreciate the magnitude of your effort.  You have done an excellent job.  I wish I could offer specific ideas or areas for improvement but I cannot.  Sure, there may be a statement or two that I would prefer my words instead of those you chose but it doesn't matter.  You have allowed for that since the inspector can customize those statements.  I know it will be very helpful to you if the fuzziness is removed from the STD of Practice but I would not count on that happening.  If your program has a drawback, and I hesitate to say that it does, it might be the manner of data entry.  Many people including myself have grown accustomed to direct entry of data into a form.  I always know where I am at in the form and what it is looking like when it is direct entry.  You know its the WYSIWYG thing.  I feel sure it would not be a problem once people like me got more accustomed to the data base approach. I am going to continue looking at your trial version when time permits.  If I see something I think will be of value to you I will let you know.  But if I were you, I would get this product on the street without delay and start making some sales.  This is a good product. Customer testimonials are always a good thing in marketing.  Let me know if I can help.

Regards,

Claude C. - Clayton, NC

George, hope the new year finds you doing well.  I will sign up for the Clayton seminar on July 20, 21. On a side note, the Guardian program is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks,

BP - Wilson, NC
